Coastline Boatlift Covers and canopies are relatively maintenance free. Utilizing 100% aluminum and stainless steal on our frames and hardware solves the issues of rust and rot common with other similar covers. We use proprietary bungee cords to limit frequency of replacmemt.
The only wear item on our products are the proprietary bungee cords we use to connect the vinyl cover to our frame. These bungees are sourced specifically to handle the load of our covers in a wind event and should NOT be replaced with sub par materials. Bungees are wear items and designed to stretch over time. The photo shows a worn bungee verse a new bungee. The bungee on the left has zero stretch and is much longer then the fresh new bungee.
The job of our bungees is to keep the canopy firmly in place, yet still allow the vinyl to expand on the frame in a storm. The bungees stretch as the vinyl expands in wind gusts, then pulls the vinyl back into place. Once worn out, the bungees can no longer slow the covers speed of expansion putting excessive stress on the nylon straps and frame,
Typically our bungees last 1.5-2 years. This timeline is an average. In some cases where the cover is directly on open water and is affected by afternoon sea breeze winds daily, the bungees may need to be replaced more frequently.
Additionally, if your area seas multiple tropical storm or hurricane " near misses" yet still see gusty winds for 24-48 hours you may consider replacing your bungees.
The most important way to keep your Coastline canopy looking great for years and years is to ensure your bungees are replaced AT LEAST every 1.5-2 years. If your area seas near hurricane force winds it very possible your bungees have been damaged.
Failing to replace worn stretched bungees will likely cause your vinyl to come loose from the frame and damage it. Damage due to lack of bungee maintenance is not covered under warranty and will void your warranty.
To have your bungees replaced please email us at sales@coastlineboatliftcover.com and we would be happy to schedule a bungee replacement.
Depending on the location of your boatlift and cover, you may notice some salt buildup on our aluminum frame from salt spray. This is nothing to be concerned with. Occasionally, give the underside of the cover including the frame a rinse with fresh water to remove the salt residue.
